Train would be nice.. might be a tad expensive.. but would be nice to see the countryside, especially going up the coast from LA to Seattle..
but flying would be faster.. and cheaper..
any suggestions??
I do wanna go to Pike Place Market.. and take the Chocolate Tour.. and Whale watching..
I plan at the moment.. to stay five days..
and possibly rent a car while I'm there..

Hello everyone...
well this past month.... year... two years.. has been a very long journey...
My mother has Alzheimer's.. and I've been her caregiver for the past four years.. last month.. She fell and broke her left hip.. The surgery was a turning point in her mental status... I can't keep her at home any longer.. The cost was beginning to become to much.. as well as the emotional toll on me... has been tremendous.
The week she fell.. I felt that I had failed her.. in not keeping her safe... but I know I'm not superwoman. That her disease was just progressing faster than I could keep up.. That she was slowly loosing sight of the world around her and slipping in her own world alone with her past and memories of those who have passed on.
Monday.. I go and pick her from a behavioral unit that specializes in Alzheimer's and Dementia, and then placement in a Nursing Home.. the one I work at. Her complete care is no longer mine alone...
Alzheimer's is an evil disease. Having them look at you and not realize who you are is the most painful thing I have endured.
My heart hurts.
My soul hurts.
Those looking for an update.. well.. not for awhile.. when I get back into the swing of things... I'll begin by finishing one story at a time.. and continue from there.. but until then..
Remember your Mother on Mother's day... and never let a day go by without telling her you love her..

I must say that the Adventdrabbles have been wonderful.. and right now.. a lifesaver..
My mother has Alzheimer's and it's progressing.. I don't want to admit it.. but it's happening... and I don't know how long I'm gonna be able to work full time.. or the dreaded step of placing her.. which I don't want to do.. at all.
I spend some night hoping that she'll wake up and it's all a dream.. A terrifying dream... awful and ugly.
No one should have to go through this.. but it affects not only the loved one.. but the family.. Mom's sister who's 18 months younger has already slipped into the third stage.. has become aggressive and angry at everyone.
My brother has already said if it happens to him.. he's putting a gun to his head.. which of course brings more arguments..
My sister.. has told me that she can't help because my brother in law can't drive at night.. I told her it was time to get her driver's license.. Haven't heard anything from her... so I'm alone...

Say... a man has a child.. and they live in a state where Civil unions aren't yet available.. and said man has a child.. from a previous fling.. Mother has signed away all rights..
Now man has a partner.. say three years later.. could his partner.. adopt the child??? and just be the other parent?

There are days when I don't know if I can do it.. Taking care of my MOM... tonight... pushed me to my limits..

Harry grunted as he rowed the boat across the lake while Severus sat stiffly with his arms crossed. "I don't see why we couldn't use magic on the boat to move it. I mean what's the difference between now and using them when the first years cross the lake to the castle?"
"The only time we use enchanted boats is then. That's the only time. There are magic sensitive plants and creatures in the lake that are affected, Potter! Hogwarts places a shield over the plants and the creatures move to the other end of the lake for the night."
"So for a brief ten to fifteen minutes that part of the lake clears out for the crossing and the plants that we need are not in that part anyway."
Harry huffed. "Okay, how are we going to harvest these plants? Bubble head charms? Gillyweed?"
"Stop here, Potter!" Severus said without answering Harry's inquiries.
Harry pulled the oars into the boat and waited for Severus next move. The older man stood and pulled off his black robe and stood before him naked. Harry swallowed hard as he looked his fill of his lover.
"I know you have hated the lake since the Tournament, so I shall retrieve the plants. No magic or clothing is allowed." Severus smirked as he turned and dove off the boat.
Harry shifted as his trousers were suddenly quite tight and crossed his arms, "Well, Bugger me."
